Yuri Alexandrovic Bezmenov was an operative for the KGB. He specialized in indoctrination and advancement of Soviet propaganda. After seeing what the USSR was doing to India he defected to the United States and lectured on the policies of the KGB.

The last election is a perfect example of this syndrome. No one knew a thing about Obama (except talk radio) and didn’t want to know. It will also be difficult for them to realize they were very wrong. Brainwashing works. The left has been slowly instilling it for decades.
